As a family we started camping when the kids were small after we were given a very old 2 berth caravan. We would take off when we could to visit family around Ireland and park up for adventures on a beach or a mountainside. There is so much to experience around Ireland and a campervan offers that freedom to roam as you please at your own pace. Children love the adventure of packing up and heading off to the unknown, it’s about detaching from technology, getting closer to nature and connecting again as a family.
With a career in cultural programming, organising Festivals and raising a young family life can be busy, so getting away from it all and reconnecting as a family is really important. The business idea sprouted upon returning from our staycation holiday last year in West Cork when the country was at the mercy of accommodation availability and Covid restrictions. I thought ‘why don’t we buy a campervan for our own family holidays and share with others when we aren’t using it’. Hence, Wanderings was born!
This is only the beginning of Wanderings, we plan to develop the business further to the areas of slow tourism, local cultures and adventures within our reach.
